Ferrari replaced its F355 in 1999 with the aluminum-bodied and curvaceous 360 Modena coupe. As promised, the Ferrari 360 offered a commensurate leap in performance over the F355 due to extensive use of aluminum throughout, as well as a new 3.6-liter V-8 engine that produced 400 horsepower. The car was capable of a 4.3 second 0-60 time.
The Ferrari 360 (Type F131) is a two-seater, mid-engine, rear wheel drive sports car manufactured by Italian automotive manufacturer Ferrari from 1999 to 2005. It succeeded the Ferrari F355 and was replaced by the Ferrari F430 in 2005.
Ferrari partnered with Alcoa to produce an entirely new all-aluminum space-frame chassis that was 40% stiffer than its predecessor's which had utilized steel. The design was 28% lighter despite a 10% increase in overall dimensions. Along with a lightweight frame the new Pininfarina body styling deviated from traditions of the previous decade's sharp angles and flip-up headlights. The new V8 engine utilises a 3.6-litre capacity, a flat-plane crankshaft, and titanium connecting rods. The engine generates a power output of 400 PS (294 kW). According to Ferrari, weight was reduced by 60 kg and the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time improved from 4.7 to 4.5 seconds.
The first model to be produced was the 360 Modena. There were 8,800 Modenas produced worldwide. Of those numbers, there were only 469 Modenas with a gated 6-speed manual transmission as opposed to the "F1" single-clutch automated manual transmission. The value premium for the 6-speed manual transmission for the Modena model is 33 percent according to Hagerty valuation. And because only 469 out of 8.800 examples are equipped with the manual, this premium will probably even rise over time.
The 360 has mostly proven to be a relatively reliable and easy Ferrari to own. For example, major belt service can be completed with the engine in the car, whereas the F355’s V-8 had to be removed in order to perform the timing belt service. Cars newer than the 2001 model year were mainly free of any issues.
This Black over Black example is fully serviced, with regular oil changes, the belts are newly done as are the light (bixenon). The sticky plastic control buttons were removed and renovated to solve this minor issue.
There is a complete documentation included from new, the service book, complete history, original service tools. The car is an overall very good and original condition.
It is being sold by the same owner as the 348 TB. A video of a test of the both cars and some pictures of both cars are also included.
