The third generation Audi 100, launched in September 1982, had an aerodynamic look, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.30 for its smoothest base model. At the time it was the world record holder for aerodynamic efficiency on a series production car. The increased aerodynamic efficiency resulted in better fuel economy. The design was in contrast from the boxy shape of the C2. Audi innovated flush windows on the C3, a key area for aerodynamic drag that has been widely adopted by other manufacturers. The aerodynamic body gave the 100 higher top speed than other cars of similar engine size. A new technology introduced in the C3 included the procon-ten safety system. In January 1988 the Audi 100 received a subtle facelift, most obvious being the change to flush fitting doorhandles.

When the car was developed, it was focused on the economy, product quality and longevity. Responsible for the technical development of the Audi 100 C3 was Ferdinand Piëch, for design Hartmut Warkuß. Today, the Audi 100 C3 is the example that begun the development of Audi as a technical advanced premium brand.

First delivered to Japan and imported to Dubai, UAE. The car was very well maintained and is still in perfect condition. It is the most powerful non-turbo version and as it is one of the last C3 examples built, it is the most refined one.

And as it currently passes the 30 years since the production date, it qualifies already as a historic vehicle, therefore the values of the pristine examples like this one will be rising. And the second advantage is, there are no custom fees for importing historic vehicles and only the lower VAT tariff of only 6 to 7 percent.

It comes for sale as the second car in a row of three Audi 100. We will offer three Audi 100 generations for sale, all in a NO RESERVE AUCTION, the generations C2, C3 and C4!

More to come about these three auctions to come in our Special Story...
