Legend has it that when it went on display for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961, none other than Enzo Ferrari remarked that the E-type was the most beautiful car he’d ever seen. Mr. Ferrari knew a pretty car when he saw one and he might have been one of the first to express the sentiment, but an incalculable number of others have said virtually the same thing and they’re still saying it fifty years later. Designed by a noted aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer, the E-type was meant to cheat the wind, but its glass covered headlights, long hood, short rear deck and compound curves also coincidentally looked great.
With a 0-60 time of around seven seconds and a 150-mph top speed, the Series I E-type was near the top of the early 1960s food chain and was indeed quicker than numerous sports cars with a much higher price tag. Parts are easy to find and not terribly expensive for any version of the E-type.
The cars with Flat-floor, outside bonnet locks and/or welded louvers bring a premium.
This Flat-floor car with welded louvers was the first ever E-type delivered to Austria. It comes with original Austrian registration and paperwork, original tool kit, original jack, original manual and Jaguar Heritage certificate.
The car was renovated by the famous Jaguar specialist Lynx. Lynx has detailed knowledge about early Flat-floors. The records contain not only thousands of photos of original cars but also samples of original materials and spare parts, that are not available. All surface coatings are to original specification: cadmium plated, browned, or painted black , chromed, high gloss painted etc.
This Flat-floor restored by Lynx is like a car that has just left the production line. Methodical research and the Lynx records guarantee a meticulous result 100% originality.
This car left the production line in cream, the interior trim was pale blue, the hood black.
The body has been cataphoretic dip painted like a new car to make it rustproof for the future.
All the other specifications are to factory standard as when the car left the production line.
